Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 11, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Best Video Editor ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website and desktop application ("Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: your email address and authentication details when you sign up (including via Google sign-in, if you choose it).
- Subscription information: your plan, trial and billing status, and subscription identifiers.
- Device identifier: to enforce our one-free-trial-per-computer rule, the app creates a one-way cryptographic hash of a hardware identifier from your computer and sends only that hash. We store the hash and the date a trial was claimed. We never receive or store the underlying hardware identifier, and the hash cannot be reversed to identify your device. It is used only to check whether a trial has already been used on that machine. Payment card details are collected and processed directly by Stripe — we never see or store your full card number.
- Usage & device data: basic analytics about how the website and app are used (for example via Google Analytics), which helps us improve the Service.
- Content you process: videos and audio you choose to work with are handled to provide features such as transcription and export (see Section 3).
2. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and your free trial;
- To ensure the free trial is used once per computer, and to prevent abuse of it;
- To provide the Service and its features;
- To process subscriptions and payments (through Stripe);
- To improve, secure, and support the Service;
- To communicate with you about your account, updates, or support requests.
3. Your video & audio content
Most editing happens locally on your computer. When you use cloud transcription, the audio from the video you choose is sent to third-party AI processing providers (such as Cloudflare Workers AI or, if configured, Groq) solely to generate a transcript, and is then returned to you. We do not use your content to train our own models, and we do not sell your content. If you use only on-device transcription, your media stays on your computer.
4. Service providers we use
- Google Firebase — account authentication and secure storage of your account and subscription status.
- Cloudflare — website and backend hosting, and optional AI transcription.
- Stripe — processes subscription payments and billing.
- Google Analytics — anonymous website usage analytics.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security commitments.
5. Data retention
We keep your account and subscription information for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it for legal, tax, or accounting reasons.
6. Your rights
You may access, correct, or delete your personal information, and request that we stop using it. To make a request, email our support address. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and restricted access to account data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
8. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you of material changes.
